LIGHTING 101
Day One AM
We start at ground level with a brief history of modern lighting and staging.
Students study the anatomy of lights, plug-in electronics, terminology and installation methods. From there, we learn
how to design a simple lighting system, incorporating the classroom fixtures.
PM Control Theory:
Examination of various control systems;
understanding DMX and IP networking.
Control practice: The student gets to make things work, becoming familiar with uses and functions
of the various types of lighting available today. HANDS-ON.
Using PC control, and the studio system we learn cue construction
and control use.
Day Two AM
Students will spend the morning creating a four minute cue-sequence set to spoken work and music. The purpose
is to examine the creative elements of light, control and timing.
PM Using the four minute program created earlier, students
will modify and adapt it to be used with video camera and for video projection.
It's Showtime! Students present their own
four minute show, in real-time.
We end the course with a review and round-table discussion.
Two day workshops : $ 550.00

Once completed, expect to be able to buy, build and run your own lighting system.
